The YMCA Annual Support Campaign helps to fund programs throughout San Luis Obispo County such as Club Y After school, Youth Sports, membership assistance, Summer Camp and more (map detailing the YMCA's programs in San Luis Obispo County for 2010).

Q. Why should I give to the Annual Support Campaign?

A. As a charitable organization, the YMCA exists to help people grow in spirit, mind and body. The YMCA breaks through boundaries that often separate communities. The Annual Support Campaign makes it possible for all people to experience the YMCA and all of its life-changing programs. The YMCA creates opportunities that result in new friendships, new possibilities for personal growth and a strengthened community.
Q. How much money goes directly to the YMCA and its programs?
A. Every dollar raised in our Annual Support Campaign goes directly to our YMCA programs - offering financial assistance to those without the ability to pay; defraying program expenses; and ensuring the fiscal health of the San Luis Obispo County YMCA. Because of generous donors, we are able to provide financial assistance to people who would not otherwise be able to afford membership or program fees. The Y strives to reach out and serve all people. Our programs are offered where we perceive the greatest community need.
Q. How do people qualify for financial assistance?
A. Financial assistance applications are available at every YMCA site, and on our website. Information collected on these forms helps determine the amount of assistance given to individuals and families. No one is turned away due to an inability to pay, to the extent our resources permit. Members on financial assistance receive the same member privileges as full-paying members.
Q. Which programs offer financial assistance?
A. Financial assistance is given for fitness facility and program memberships, childcare, summer camp, teen leadership and outreach, youth sports, active older adults and other YMCA programs. The programs at the Y reach the entire community. From youth to seniors and all those in between, the YMCA's programs build strong kids, strong families, strong communities.

Q. Who furnishes the funds?
A. Many generous people and businesses contribute to the YMCA Annual Support Campaign and furnish the funds for the financial assistance programs.

Additional Ways You Can Help
- In-Kind Donations. The YMCA is in need of many products and services. If you have something to share, please give us a call. If we can't use it, we'll work with other agencies to ensure it's put to go use.
- Matching Gift Programs. Many employers and organizations offer matching gifts. Be sure to inquire whether you can double the impact of your gift with a match from your company or organization.
- An Example of Corporate Giving. The Tenet Healthcare Foundation and Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center recently donated $2,500 to the San Luis Obispo County YMCA to complete its $5,000 commitment for funding The Learning Center for Active Older Adults located in the YMCA’s Specialty Fitness Center. The Learning Center features literature, online access and other materials for seniors to learn more about heart disease and other health concerns.
- Leadership Foundation: Your contribution of $1,200 (or more) sets you among the YMCA’s Leaders. Through the Leadership Foundation, your gift will be used to provide financial assistance and inspire bigger and brighter achievements based upon the foundation of the Six Pillars of Character. - Legacy Program: Building A Stronger Future

You can provide now for a future gift to the YMCA by including a bequest provision in your will or revocable trust. A bequest is one of the simplest ways to give. Bequests may be made as an outright gift or you can name the YMCA or a designated YMCA program in your estate plan.
