CEO Receives National Recognition!

Jenifer Rhynes, CEO of the SLO County YMCA was recognized by YMCA of the USA with a Child & Youth Champion Award, at a ceremony on October 20th. One of 5 recipients

to receive this year's award, Rhynes was recognized for her support as a champion of children and youth programs in San Luis Obispo County.

The award specifically recognizes CEOS that are visionaries in planning for current and future programs to meet changing youth and child needs.  Rhynes has worked to develop youth   and children programming through numerous community collaborations, effective use of local resources, staff development and a steadfast commitment to quality programming.

A leader in local child and youth development efforts in San Luis Obispo County, Rhynes is a member of HEAL SLO (Childhood Obesity Task Force), the Asset Development Network, and United Way of San Luis Obispo County.

Under her guidance the San Luis Obispo County YMCA now offers 11 after-school learning programs throughout the county, with additional teen activities in Paso Robles, Shandon, Cambria, San Luis Obispo and coming soon in Atascadero.  The YMCA also offers an excellent Youth and Government program for High School students and over 15 sports programs for children as young as 3 through adulthood.
