Anything from swimming and team games to crafts and studying the environment. Most importantly, your child will be in a safe, friendly environment where the YMCA’s core values of trust, respect, responsibiity, fairness, caring and citizenship are an integral part of the curriculum.

We choose our staff based on their experience and sensitivity to children’s needs. They will inspire your child and create opportunities for them to learn and explore the world around them.

Register Early
Camps are located throughout San Luis Obispo County. However, space is limited, so sign up soon! You do not have to be a YMCA member to register. A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit for each week of camp must be paid at registration. Full payment is due prior to the start of camp. A late fee will be charged if payment is late.

Financial Assistance
Every child should have the opportunity to attend camp. The YMCA’s Financial Assistance program, supported in part through contributions to the Annual Support Campaign, provides funds for those in need within our available resources. For more information...

Inclusive Recreation

The YMCA offers a program that is geared specifically for children from K- 8th grade with special needs. This program is in collaboration with Tri Counties Regional Center. It pairs the children with dedicated, trained YMCA staff who promote social skills and provide developmentally appropriate activities. Ages: Entering Kindergarten through 4th Grade

Our YMCA Character Camp K-4 is designed to provide children with challenging, exciting, entertaining, recreational and enriching activities in a safe and supportive environment. We offer awesome age appropriate activities for our campers, such as swimming, hiking, cooking, field trips, service-learning, arts & crafts and more! YMCA camps also include unique components of asset development & character building, designed to develop the total person – spirit, mind & body – while creating memories that will last a lifetime. Sign your child up for Character Camp K-4 and they will have a summer they will never forget.

Each child receives a camp t-shirt on first day of camp.

San Luis Obispo Club 58

Summer Day Camp

Ages: Entering Grades 5 through 8

YMCA Adventure Club 58 Day Camp provides adolescents with fun filled summer days that have been designed especially for this age group. Campers will participate in a variety of activities and travel throughout the county (and beyond) while building skills, making friends, and challenging themselves on a daily basis. Group activities will focus on leadership and teamwork. Character development and asset building are incorporated on a daily basis. Group activities will focus on leadership and teamwork. Campers will participate in service learning projects that promote civic responsibility and serve to connect young people with their community. Princess Camp
Inviting all little princesses to the popular YMCA Princess Camp!

Princesses will spend three magical days learning princess

etiquette, playing in a Princess Castle and making princess

treats and accessories. A royal tea party on the last day of

camp. Participants are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite princess attire. Fees include all princess supplies and

a healthy, noble snack. Be sure to also sign-up for Princess

Calling all future Picasso’s! Artists will work with color and different forms of art (painting, mosaics and masks, recycled materials and watercolors) to create beautiful masterpieces. The YMCA Roller Hockey Camp is a fun and exciting camp that has campers wanting to learn more about hockey. The atmosphere and setting of the camp is perfect for players to practice, play and excel everyday. The day sessions will consist of skills, special guests speakers, the afternoons with small games, swimming, and fun!! The personable staff makes it easy for campers to have a good time and gain the most out of every session.

Futsal (Indoor Soccer)

This summer the YMCA will hold its second annual indoor soccer camp. This camp begins to develop team concepts and team skills. Our goal is to provide a positive learning environment for all participants from novice to advanced players. Although the camp has a competitive flavor, YMCA character counts and concrete, common sense, positive experiences and qualities are emphasized that are essential to raising successful young people.

Bitty Sports

Parents rave about the fun they and

their children have participating in the

Y’s Bitty Sports series. Bitty Sports is

designed for boys and girls ages 3-5

and their families with a number of goals

in mind. Not only do the children learn

concepts of each sport, but they also

learn the philosophies of teamwork,

fair play and sportsmanship. They have

the opportunity to develop friendships

and new skills. It is a soft approach to

sports for preschool age children.

Fees include a team T-shirt.

Bitty Basketball (Winter, SLO)

Basketball has been a part of the YMCA

and our country ever since 1891 when a

YMCA instructor hung two peach baskets

from a beam and tacked 13 simple rules to the wall.

Now you and your “bitty” child (age 3 through 5)

can learn to enjoy this national pastime together.

Bitty T-Ball (Late Spring)

Bitty T-Ball is a great way for your child

to discover the game of baseball and to

strengthen your relationship with your child.

Not only will you help your child build a solid

foundation for friendships that can last a lifetime,

but you’ll also be helping to build and develop a

set of skills and patterns that your children will

carry with them into adolescence.
Who Can Play: All Children ages 3 to 5

Bitty Soccer (Fall)

Join your child in learning the fundamentals

of soccer.  Your child will learn the basic

fundamentals of the game, while also learning

the concepts of teamwork, fair play and

sportsmanship.  As a parent you will join in the

with your child.

T-Ball & Coach/

Machine Pitch

For the 8th year in a row, the YMCA is

teaming up with the Cal Ripken

Baseball League. The YMCA will run the

T-Ball & Coach Pitch/Machine Pitch

Program for kid’s ages 5-8 years old,

and Cal Ripken will run the Kid-Pitch

Program for youth ages 8-12 years old.

The T-Ball/Coach Pitch Program is very non-competitive (no scores are kept, everyone gets to play all of the time), and is designed to teach the basics of baseball. Coaches are volunteers, and also serve as the umpires.

This program is wonderful for the younger,

beginning baseball player.

NFL Flag Football

The NFL Flag program exists nationwide

in all 32 NFL markets. In San Luis

Obispo, this program is a collaboration

between the YMCA and the SLO City

Parks and Recreation. NFL Flag

provides an opportunity for kids ages

6-14 and families to become involved

in football through participation early in

life. It also help develop the first phase

of player and coach development by

teaching football skills at the earliest

age, while structuring the first level of a

feeder system to community tackle

programs or high school programs.

YMCA Youth Basketball is a

collaboration with the San Luis Obispo

City Parks & Recreation department.

The program strives to encourage skill

development, self-confidence and a

positive peer interaction. The kids are

split up by schools and into the

Futsal (Indoor Soccer)

The City of San Luis Obispo Parks and Recreation and the San Luis Obispo County YMCA are proud to bring you Futsal. Futsal is indoor soccer played

on a small court with a variation of the outdoor soccer rules; it is played with five players at a time. For more

San Luis Obispo Youth

Roller Hockey

Targeted to all skill levels, including

beginners, the Roller Hockey program

was developed to offer children an

alternative sport that provides great

body conditioning without the “down time”

seen in other sports such as baseball.

Even if your child doesn’t know how

to skate, they are encouraged to try

this sport.  The YMCA’s experienced

coaches will teach all of the fundamentals

of the sport, including how to skate and

how to improve skating for the sport. 

An introductory clinic and equipment

swap meet will be held at Santa Rosa Park

in San Luis Obispo on Saturday, March 8th

from 9:30 to 12:30 pm.  The free clinic is a

great way for those who may be interested

in the sport to learn more and see what it entails.

The program strives to encourage skill

development, self-confidence and positive

peer interaction. It also provides a unique

opportunity for parents to share quality time

with the children, and have fun doing it!

Ages: 5-17

Location: Santa Rosa Park (SLO)

Cost: $75.00/child

An additional $15 annual program membership

may apply if not already paid for the year.

Winter/Spring Season:

March -June

Practice: March 3rd- March 15th

Two-Day Tournament May 17 & 18, 2008

Ages: 17-adult

Location: Santa Rosa Park (SLO)

Dates:

Player draft will be held on Monday July 7th, 6:00pm at the SLO YMCA.

Games: July 14th-August 14th, 2 games/week

Time: Games will be held M-Th, 8:00pm-10:00pm, and will depend on the team

Cost:

$55.00 by June 13th,

$60:00 after June 13th

Format: 3 on 3 with 3 skaters with a Goalie.

Registration & Draft: Only 3 players are allowed to sign up as a unit. All other players will be assigned to a team by the YMCA Administration at the Draft night. A maximum of 7 players will be placed a team.

YMCA Little Adventures Preschool is

designed for 2 1/2 to 5 year olds to learn

through positive experiences in a

structured environment. Each day

includes a variety of activities to

develop both large and small motor

skills, group activities and a craft. Zoo-

phonics curriculum is taught daily, and

this method of teaching the alphabet is

a great tool in reading readiness. Little

Adventures Preschool prides itself in

building character and teaching skills

that last a lifetime.

Kinder Club Madness

Kinder Club Madness introduces healthy lifestyles

for youth ages 4 to 6 years old through a variety

of fitness and cooking activities. Art and music

enrichment are also introduced weekly, as well

as group activities and crafts. Participants have

access to the Bounce House and the Kids Gym facility.

Bounce House Wednesday
Ages: 1-12 years old
Days: Every Wednesday during the

school year, excluding holidays and

winter/spring breaks.
Time: 2:30 - 4:30 pm
Cost: $2.00 for non-members,

no cost for members.
Location: SLO YMCA Facility
Come to the YMCA for an afternoon of

bouncing, balloons and face-painting!

Trained and enthusiastic staff supervise

the bounce house, provide free balloons

and face-painting. Parents are required

to stay with children who are not yet

potty-trained.

Healthy Kids Club

Ages: 4-12 years old

Days: Monday-Friday

Location:  San Luis Obispo YMCA Facility

Cost: $120 per month or a $5 daily drop-in fee.

The Healthy Kids Club program focuses

on building healthy lives for youth through

a variety of youth fitness classes and

challenges, nutrition, cooking and group games.

Participants have access to Kids Gym, the Main Gym

and the Bounce House.

Club Y - Before and After School

Age: K-6th Grade

Club Y staff is college educated and works with the goal of providing a safe, fun and enriching experience for your child. Safety is priority at the YMCA and we always go the extra mile. We ensure that our sites model all the best practices. When your child participates

in Club Y, they receive more than just quality, licensed childcare. Children feel valued, are mentored by positive adult role models, are taught

character through our Character

Counts curriculum and gain a sense of

appreciation for their community. Our

Club Y program offers specialized clubs

that meet your child’s developmental

needs and interests. The children gain

confidence, practice good citizenship

and develop skills that will last a

lifetime. Each month your child will

have the opportunity to enroll in

activities that suits their own needs and

interests. Clubs include but are not

limited to homework club, drama club,

sports clubs and for the 5th and 6th

graders, leadership club.

2008 Spring Camps

YMCA Spring Camp is a great place for your children to spend their Spring Vacation!

San Luis Obispo Spring Day Camps

Dates: March 21, March 24-28 at

Age: K-6th Grades

Location: Los Ranchos Elementary School

Cost:  $37 per day

Time: Site Hours are 7am – 6pm
What to bring:
Lunch, tennis shoes, jacket & water bottle

Our YMCA Spring Day Camp programs are designed to provide children with challenging, exciting, entertaining, recreational and enriching activities in a safe and supportive environment. Spring Specialty Camps

Art Camp
Calling all artists in SLO County! Come to the YMCA for an awesome and fun art experience. We will make animal masks, paint with fingers, brushes and rollers and make play dough creations. There will be an art show on the last day of camp. All artists encouraged to come dressed in comfortable clothes to create masterpieces in. Fees include all art supplies and snacks.
Ages: 4-8 years old
Dates: March 24-26
Time: 9-11:0am

Dinosaur Camp
All future paleontologists are invited to come explore the world of dinosaurs at this popular YMCA camp. We will explore the dinosaur habitats through games, books and crafts. All paleontologists encouraged to come dig into this exciting dinosaur camp! Fees include all dino-snacks and supplies.
