Create Curriculum

Curriculum that meets state standards while introducing youth to engineering concepts and applications is greatly needed. Engineering is applied mathematics and without math skills, solving real problems or creating innovation isn’t possible; the Y is committed to teaching both math and engineering.

With the technical tools of curriculum in hand, staff will be trained on the use of these tools and the manner of teaching that helps to build a fearless approach in the use and application of technology as a tool in engineering.

By providing curriculum and classroom alignment in after-school enrichment and academic activities, the Y strengthens participant knowledge of core curriculum and reinforces grade level learning. Ultimately, the Y's objective is the help school increase school attendance, close the achievement gap and increase grade level performance.

Provide Supplies & Materials

Donations provide the needed supplies and materials that support existing math and science curriculum. Y staff has received the necessary training to implement math and science activities.
The Y provides an environment that allows participants to learn kinetically. Students embrace learning and are motivated to experiment for the purpose of discovery.

$8,500 to build curriculum to be utilized at all 14 sites.

$1,100 to provide supplies for one site for a full series of lessons.

$760 will train all the staff necessary on the curriculum and teaching techniques.
