We all have one trait in common… potential.
And that is where the Y comes in: nurturing the potential of children, adults, families and communities. The Y’s unique role is to create access for all, no matter the circumstances, including income level, physical abilities or primary language. Experiences that include a cross section of our community builds bridges between segments that may otherwise not meet. In order to attain one's potential, it must be nurtured.
One of the most prominent studies found that the learning loss in low-income children is cumulative throughout elementary school. By 9th grade, it concluded, it accounts for two-thirds of the achievement gap …and made a difference in whether youth dropped out of school or graduated.
“High-quality summer programs combining engaging lessons and enriching experiences can help these children stay on track for the academic challenges ahead. That will make a big difference in preparing students to become productive workers and taxpayers and in making sure our economy has the skilled workforce it needs. Having such a well-educated workforce will enable our country to compete economically internationally.”

The financial assistance program creates a sliding scale for all YMCA activities ensuring low income families gain access to enriching experiences.
