Legacy Program

For over 50 years, the San Luis Obispo County YMCA has helped people of all ages, abilities, and income grow in body, mind and spirit. With great pleasure we invite our friends and supporters to become members of the YMCA Legacy Program.

The YMCA Legacy Program recognizes and honors individuals who have made a contribution or pledge to the San Luis Obispo County YMCA Endowment Fund.  Members of the Legacy Program are a special group of friends who believe in the purpose and values of the YMCA. They want to ensure a better tomorrow for our society’s children, youth and families, especially those in need.  Legacy Program members plan their gifts to create endowment funds at either the San Luis Obispo County YMCA or the San Luis Obispo County Community Foundation to benefit the San Luis Obispo County YMCA.

Gifts to endowment funds are not spent
They are invested in perpetuity, and only a portion of the investment income is used to fund YMCA programs each year to further the YMCA’s mission. A strategic plan, under direction of the volunteer YMCA Board of Directors, guides the fund’s growth.  Planned gift instruments can include those made by a bequest provision in your will or revocable trust, naming the YMCA as a benficiary of your insurance or pension plan, or a gift of stocks or real estate.
